Terms of Service

Last updated: June 1, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and AevumSecure. We have tried to write them in plain English, because a service you trust with your digital legacy should not hide behind legalese. Please read them; the parts about credentials, check-ins, and releases describe how the product actually behaves.

By creating an account or using AevumSecure, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

01What AevumSecure is

AevumSecure is a digital legacy vault. It lets you store encrypted sensitive data (passwords, two-factor recovery codes, documents, photos, videos, and letters), choose beneficiaries and an optional executor, and set up a check-in system that releases chosen items to chosen people if you stop responding. The release process includes verification steps and a cooling-off period before anything is shared.

AevumSecure is a technology service, not a law firm: it does not replace a will, and nothing in the product or on this site is legal advice.

02Your account and credentials

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use AevumSecure.
  • You must provide accurate account information and keep your email address current. Our check-in reminders depend on being able to reach you.
  • Your vault is encrypted with keys derived from your passkey or password. If you lose all of your credentials and recovery options, we may be unable to recover your vault contents. This is a deliberate security property, not a bug. Set up the recovery options the app offers and keep them safe.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us immediately at hello@aevumsecure.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

03Check-ins and releases

This is the heart of the product, so it deserves plain language:

  • You choose a check-in schedule. We remind you by email, and by SMS if you opted in. Confirming a check-in tells the system you are okay.
  • If you stop responding, we escalate reminders over a period of weeks. Only after the full escalation sequence, verification steps, and a cooling-off period does a release begin. During the cooling-off period, you can cancel everything with a single check-in.
  • A release shares only the specific items you assigned to each beneficiary. After a release, beneficiaries have a 90-day window to access their items, after which the released material is cryptographically cleaned up.
  • The system depends on email and SMS delivery, which we do not fully control. Keep your contact details current, and tell your beneficiaries to do the same.

Important: you are responsible for configuring your check-in schedule, beneficiaries, and item assignments correctly. We execute the plan you set up.

04Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Store or distribute content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours.
  • Use the service to harm, harass, defraud, or impersonate anyone.
  • Add beneficiaries without a genuine intent that they receive your items.
  • Attempt to breach, probe, or overload our systems, or access another person's vault or data.
  • Resell or white-label the service without our written agreement.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. Where reasonably possible, we will warn you first.

05Your content

Everything you put in your vault remains yours. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the service: storing your encrypted data, transmitting it, and releasing it to the people you chose. We do not read, mine, or sell your vault contents, and we do not use them to train AI models.

06Beneficiaries and executors

By adding a beneficiary or executor, you confirm you have a lawful basis to share their contact details with us, and you understand we will contact them for invitations, verification, and releases you configured. Beneficiaries who access a release portal get their own limited session and see only the items assigned to them. The legal-handshake feature can share verification details with a lawyer or executor you designate; using it is optional.

07Service availability and changes

We work hard to keep AevumSecure available and dependable, and the release pipeline is built with managed, redundant infrastructure. Even so, we cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may change, add, or retire features; if a change materially affects how releases work, we will notify you in advance by email.

08Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In particular:

  • We cannot guarantee that a release will reach a beneficiary if their contact details are wrong or unreachable.
  • We cannot recover vault contents if you lose all credentials and recovery options.
  • AevumSecure does not provide legal, financial, or estate-planning advice. Consult a qualified professional for your will and estate.

09Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AevumSecure will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data caused by lost credentials, incorrect beneficiary details, or misconfigured release plans. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability arising from our own fraud or willful misconduct.

10Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your settings or by emailing hello@aevumsecure.com. Deleting your account destroys the encryption keys for your vault, which makes the stored data unreadable. If a release is already in progress when you request deletion, we will confirm your intent before stopping it, because cancelling a legitimate release could defeat the entire purpose of the service.

11Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. If a dispute arises, we would much rather resolve it by talking: email us first. If that fails, disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ghana, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country gives you the right to bring claims locally.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. For material changes, we will email you before they take effect and update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using AevumSecure after the changes take effect, the updated terms apply. If you do not agree with a change, you can export your data and delete your account.
