Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This is a short policy because we use very few cookies. AevumSecure sets only the strictly necessary cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies that follow you around the web.
Because every cookie we set is strictly necessary for the service to work, we do not show a cookie consent banner. There is nothing optional to consent to.
01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between page loads, most importantly, in our case, that you have signed in. Without them, you would have to authenticate on every single page.
02The cookies we set
All of our cookies are first-party, set by AevumSecure itself, and strictly necessary:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in to your account. Created when you sign in and required for every authenticated page. | About 15 minutes, refreshed while you are active. |
| better-auth.session_data | A short-lived, signed copy of your session so most pages can verify you without a database lookup. | About 1 minute, refreshed automatically. |
| beneficiary-session | A separate short-lived session for beneficiaries accessing the release portal. It never grants access to a vault owner account. | About 15 minutes. |
These cookies are marked HttpOnly (JavaScript on the page cannot read them), are sent only to our own domain, and are marked Secure in production so they travel only over HTTPS. We may also set short-lived technical cookies during sign-in flows (for example to complete a passkey or two-factor challenge); these expire as soon as the flow finishes.
03What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No third-party tracking pixels or social media cookies.
- No cookies that profile your behavior across other websites.
If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and, where consent is required, ask for it before setting anything new.
04Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Because our cookies are what keep you signed in, blocking them will sign you out and prevent you from using your vault. Signing out of AevumSecure removes your session cookies immediately.
